2013/2014 Ashes Betting Odds - Australia Vs England Cricket Test Match Series

The Aussies want to make amends for their poor performance in the 2013 Ashes series earlier this year and are desperate to bring the Ashes back to Australia. Of course, England would like very much to keep the Ashes, if they outplay Australia in every game again, they have a very good chance of retaining them too.

Every Australian knows that England got lucky last time, even though they won the series 3-0, I’m sure Australia were just testing them (get it?) when we drew the matches at Old Trafford and The Oval in order to give us punters decent betting odds for Australia to win the 2013/2014 Ashes series. Or maybe they completely outplayed us, but I don’t think too many real Aussies would admit that (to the English, anyway).

Both countries desperately want to win the series, for different reasons, but if Australia want to reclaim the Ashes (best odds $2.65), they’ll need to do better than simply draw the series (best odds $5.50), and much better than losing 3-0 (England are the favourites to win the 2013/2014 Ashes series with the best odds available from SportingBet (one of my personal favourite cricket bookmakers) paying $2.10 for England to win outright).

England will keep the Ashes if they win or the series is drawn and all of us Aussies will have to put up with listening to more of the English gloating for what seems like a life time until the next Ashes series starts.

I’m positive nobody in the Australian cricket team wants to be beaten so comprehensively again, Australia not winning a single match may mean that cricket in Australia has died. Maybe in our deep sorrow we should cremate a cricket bail and send the Ashes to the UK. Wait, I’m feeling a sense of Déjà vu.

2013/14 Ashes Series Betting Odds, Info & Tips

The first Test match of the series is on the 21st of November, less than two weeks away. This match will be played at in Queensland, let’s hope we get a nice warm welcome for our cold weather loving friends from England.

Can the Australian cricket team beat the English cricket team in Australia? Does playing in your own country make a huge difference? In the 1990’s and early 2000’s I would have said definitely not! But these days, for this series at least, we can only hope.

All punters would love to have their own special punting “crystal ball” to give them all the answers, it would make profits from betting a lot higher if you could simply wave your hands over a magical orb and look into the future, but it would be a lot less fun, taking out all of the research and the slight amount of luck which is always involved. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t be complaining! Anyway, since that’s not possible, the best we can do is look into the recent past and see how both teams are traveling with regards to their form. Actually, on second thoughts, let’s give that a miss and rely on hope and optimism instead.

England want to retain the Ashes just as much as Australia want to bring the Ashes back home. If Australia are going to win the series, they will need to play much better cricket than they have recently. Maybe it’s just because I’m an Aussie, maybe it’s the beers that I’ve enjoyed while writing this post or maybe I’m just delusional, but I think the Aussies can bounce back and win the Ashes this time. I’m not going to be betting the farm on it, but I will have a token bet on my country, mainly because I have English mates and I don’t want them to have a reason to taunt me if I didn’t have a punt on Australia to win.

Ok so as usual, the best odds available for each result is listed in bold text. Enjoy the warmer weather and the cricket this summer, I know I will!
