Free Tips for the 2015 Melbourne Cup Winner

International Horses Dominate the ‘Cup Field

Once again the runners from overseas look set to make a big impact on the richest thoroughbred horse race in the southern hemisphere with only one Australian horse, Sertorius starting the race from a nice barrier draw, he drew box 5.

Patriotic Aussie horse racing fans will be hoping the 8 year old gelding can produce his best on the first Tuesday in November, I think he’ll need to improve from his win the Group 3 Easter Cup in April if he’s going to win the race.

Information About the Current Favourites

As of Sunday the two horses with single figure odds are Fame Game paying between $4 and $6, and Trip to Paris hovering around the $9 dollar mark.

Fame Game

According to most punters, not discounting myself, Fame Game looks to be the one to beat. The 5 year old horse hails from Japan, a country which continues to produce high quality stayers worthy of winning the Melbourne Cup. He came 6th in the Caulfield Cup and finished strongly. Before that he came 2nd in the Japanese 3200m Group 1 Tenno Sho (or Emperor’s Prize) carrying 58 kilo’s. Prior to that he started as a $3.70 favourite in the 3400m Group 3 Diamond Stakes which he won with a time of 3:31.9.

Fame Game is a deserving favourite, if he can get a nice start from barrier 12 he’s got every chance to win.

Trip to Paris

Presently, Trip to Paris is the only other horse with single figure odds.

The 5 year old gelding bred in Ireland and trained by Ed Dunlop, who also trains Red Cadeux who has remarkably finished 2nd in the Melbourne Cup three times: in 2011, 2013 & 2014.

Trip to Paris finished strongly to come 2nd in this years Caulfield Cup and has a better than 50% win ratio in his career. If you had bet on him in every race so far, you would would have earned a 161% ROI.

To prove his staying ability, earlier this year in June, Trip to Paris beat Kingfisher in the 4023m Group 1 Gold Cup in Ascot carrying 57 kilo’s, so we know he can stay and he’s only carrying 55 kilo’s in the Cup. He would love to add to his current earnings of $1,200,548 by winning the Melbourne Cup, I think if he gets a good run he certainly can.
