SportingBet Superstars – Dream Team Style Fantasy Football Betting

This entry was posted in AFL Betting. Check here for the latest posts in this category.

Just when I thought Sporting Bet couldn’t get any better at innovating the online betting space, they release SportingBet Superstars. For those not familiar with AFL Dream Team, it is a fantasy football game which you choose a team of players that fit within your allocated salary cap, and the stats in the real games score points for you each week. I have been playing Dream Team for several years now, and it’s a load of fun and highly addictive. I know for a fact that I’ll be spending even more time analyzing the stats this year now that I can bet on it too!

Here’s a quick list of some of the unique betting options provided by SportingBet.

Top 5 Superstar Defenders

Players who are classified as backs in Dream Team, but also play in the midfield are what you want to look for here.

Joel Bowden 5.75
Luke Hodge 6.50
Chad Cornes 6.00
Andrew Embley 13.00
Sam Fisher 13.00

Top 5 Superstar Midfielders

The highest scoring players at the end of the year are those who play in the guts. The midfield is where your Dream Team is won and lost.

Gary Ablett 5.25
Jimmy Bartel 5.25
Joel Corey 6.00
Dane Swan 10.00
Bradd Dalziell 12.00

Top 5 Superstar Ruckman

There are not very many rucks that score well consistently in Dream Team, Dean Cox is without a doubt the stand-out ruck in fantasy, and arguably real footy too. Cox has a massive average against Brisbane, unfortunately the odds offered earlier today of $2.75 have shortened to $2, although this is probably still overs.

Dean Cox 2.00
David Hille 6.50
Troy Simmonds 7.50
Drew Petrie 9.00
Aaron Sandilands 9.00

Top 5 Superstar Forwards

Big bags of goals certainly gives power forwards the potential for very high scores, but roaming around on the wings collecting marks and kicks makes for more consistent high scores.

Matthew Pavlich 7.50
Lance Franklin 8.00
Matthew Richardson 9.00
Brett Deledio 10.00
Brent Harvey 9.00

Premiership Teammates Of Past

Who will score the most points in round 1 out of these three champions? Judd and Kerr will certainly be tagged, will the Blues play a man on Cousins letting Deledio and Foley roam free? This could be the difference.

Chris Judd 2.45
Daniel Kerr 2.55
Ben Cousins 2.75

#1 Draft Pick Trio

These three are all guns and there is value in Gibbs, coming into his third year who probably won’t get as much attention as Murphy.

Brett Deledio 2.50
Marc Murphy 2.55
Bryce Gibbs 2.80

2006 Draft Superstars

I don’t think Boak will match the other two, and the odds reflect that.

Joel Selwood 2.22
Bryce Gibbs 2.45
Travis Boak 3.25

2007 Draft Superstars

It’s hard to go past the 2008 Rising Star Rhys Palmer here, $2.20 is good value.

Rhys Palmer 2.20
Cale Morton 2.42
Chris Masten 3.40
