Geelong Win the 2006 NAB Cup
In a nailbiter that started off horribly for the Cats, they’ve now scored their first cup in 43 years. After being totally dominated in the mid-field by the Crows, Geelong were trailing by 22 points at the end of the first quarter. It looked to be a certain win for the Crows as they were totally out playing Geelong. The mighty Cats fought back, with the help of Ablett, Hunt, Corey and Mooney, the former three scoring super goals, while Mooney scored 3 in the last quarter of the game, one at a crucial moment from close range which had Geelong in front by 8 points. They held onto the margin for the remainder of the term and got the Cup.
Adelaide didn’t make the most of their opportunities, missing 15 shots at goal, but the Cats did play a fierce game and in my opinion, deserved the win. It was a close game that was good to watch, and even better if you had money on the Cats ![]()
