Aussie’s Looking to Bounce Back

Australia may have to do without skipper Ricky Ponting for the majority of the five match ODI series against South Africa after the Australian Captain pulled out of the first match loss with a stomach strain. The Proteas took a 1-0 series lead after a 6 wicket win in the opening match last Sunday. The teams meet in Game 2 in Cape Town tomorrow, with Game 3 in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

Game 2 - HEAD TO HEAD
SOUTH AFRICA 2.25
AUSTRALIA 1.67
Game 2 - BATTING HEAD TO HEAD
Adam Gilchrist 1.85
Simon Katich 1.95
Boeta Dippenaar 1.95
Graeme Smith 1.85

ING Cup Final

SA Redbacks v NSW Blues

It looks like the Redbacks are the outright favourites to win the 2006 ING Cup, paying $1.52 for the win at home. New South Wales are paying $2.55 to win the Cup as visitors. The odds for the highest opening partnership are a little closer, with South Australia paying $1.85 and the Blues at $1.95 and it’s even at $1.95 each for who will win the toss.

I think NSW will struggle playing without Simon Katich, Michael Clarke, Nathan Bracken and Stuart Clark, because they’re with the Australian Test team.

The line up is as follows:

REDBACKS: D Lehmann (c), D Cullen, G Manou, C Ferguson, C Bailey, J Gillespie, G Blewett, D Harris, C Borgas, K Skewes, M Cleary, S Tait, M Cosgrove. NSW: B Haddin (c), A Bird, D Bollinger, M Henriques, P Jaques, J Krejza, S MacGill, A O’Brien, M Phelps, C Richards, G Roden, C Simmons, D Thornely.

Luke Ball Named St Kilda’s New Skipper

The sixth youngest captain in AFL history, and after filling in for Nick Riewoldt at the end of last season, LukeBall has beaten Justin Koschitzke in the running for the front man of the Saints.

St. Kilda coach Grant Thomas has made it very clear that Koschitzke will most likely captain the club next year. “First things first, he’s got to learn to be much more resilient.”

Ball was initially unsure of the position, but after speaking to his coach and family, he decided to “give it a crack”.

Ball … Yes!!
